NC 489 233. Probable shielings. Small rectangular mounds.
Information from OS (G T) 25 September 1961.
Beside Allt an Ulbhaidh is a group of at least 21 turf and stone built sheilings reduced to mere footings, 0.2m in average height. They vary in size from 3.0m by 2.0m to 6.0m by 3.0m, and a number occur on low mounds formed by the debris of earlier shielings.
Surveyed at 1:10,000.
Visited by OS (N K B) 8 August 1980.
Thirteen shieling-huts were recorded and two more were noted; they measured up to 12.7m in length by up to 5.5m in breadth and all were reduced to low turf-covered wall-footings. They contained up to four compartments and some had been set into low mounds.
