Full Description

NC22SE 2 2700 2116.
(NC 2700 2116) Enclosure (NR) OS 6"map, (1963)

This circular enclosure is situated on a slight SW slope with little attempt to level it. It measures 15.0m in diameter between the centres of a bank spread to 2.0m heavily overgrown with heather. There is no suggestion of stone in the bank except at one point in the SW where a small heap of bare stones may represent a collapsed entrance. A faint bank encircling the enclosure at a distance of c. 5.0m may be the result of digging turf for the bank of the enclosure. It is uncertain if the enclosure is a hut circle or an old sheep fold.
Surveyed at 1/10,560 (OS {EGC} 24 April 1961)
Visited by OS (J M) 15 August 1974.

This turf-built enclosure, now within a plantation and overgrown with firs, is as described by OS field surveyor (J M), and is almost certainly a sheepfold similar to an example in the Loch Loyal area (NC64NW 1) in which the only stone evident is at the entrance.
Revised at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (N K B) 2 September 1980.
