Full Description
Situated on top of bank at S edge of haugh land are the remains of a small circle, formed by an earth and stone bank about 1.5m wide by 0.3m high. It measures approximately 8m N-S by 8.7m transversely, with an entrance, 1.5m wide, in SE quadrant. Some large stones protrude from the bank at the N side of the entrance. The S side of the circle is very vague, being barely 0.1m high. It may possibly be only an old sheepfold.
Visited by OS (W D J) 10 April 1961.
This enclosure is as described by the previous field investigator. It may be a hut circle, but the remains are very slight, and on balance it is more likely to be an old stock pen contemporary with the ruined farmstead some 70m to the ESE. There is no trace of clearance heaps or field plots.
Revised at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (N K B) 28 April 1982.
