While making a new road between Scrabster and Thurso along the coast in 1844, workmen came upon a trench about 100 yds in length which was full of human remains; and several graves were found in immediate neighbourhood. The human remains found here are supposed to be those of the slain in some of the skirmishes which took place between clans in this neighbourhood.
