(NH 6072 8947 and 6073 8954) Castle (NR) (Site of) Lady's Well (NAT) OS 6" map, Sutherland, 2nd ed., (1907)

Vestiges of an ancient residence are to be seen between the church and sea at Kincardine The field terminates in a steep bank, called the 'Bank of the Gate', and at bottom there is a spring of excellent water, called the Lady's Well.
OSA 1792; Name Book 1875.

Lady's Well' appears to be a fresh water spring lying below the high water mark. It was under water at time of visit.
Visited by OS (W D J) 21 May 1963.

See corrected GR as derived from OS 1st ed which depictes the well on the v edge of the coast to N of the castle. - HAW 10/2002
