SCOMBER, fishing out of Fleetwood, ran aground below the lighthouse, north end of Crowlin Island, vessel was badly damaged, six of the crew abandoned the wreck in a small boat and were picked up at 7am by a passing car ferry, PIONEER. Master and 4 crewman were left on the vessel until 3pm, engine room and cabin flooded, listed heavily to starboard. Vessel refloated, repaired and returned to service.
