The steel ketch DUCHESS went aground 14 November 1923. She dragged her anchor on 15 November 1923 and floated off, but sunk 16 November 1923 in deep water. She was en route from Banff to Mickleferry.
Surveying Details

26 November 1923. A position of 57 50 00N, 003 50 00W or bearing 274 degrees and 634 metres from Portmahomack Pier was given.

28 February 1924. The circumstances regarding further salvage operations will have to be reconsidered.

1924 The mast of wreck attached to the bottom by rigging is reported to be showing 0.6 metres above the water NW by N and 1.25 miles from Portmahomack.
