Full Description

1st ed Ordnance Survey map shows semi oval enclosed ground on the E side of the church in woodland.
Photos. The cemetery has been extended to a large rectangle on all sides of the church (with WW2 graves on E side). The cemetery has then be extended to the N as a walled are on the NE side of older cemetery. Now extending in area to W of this. Dumping of soil and stones encountered in area of woodland to W of the older cemetery - on a lower level. The wall has been removed in part to facilitate this. Possible building on the line here - or architectural feature? <1>

Burial ground; rubble walls with crenellated cope; pair gate piers, possibly Ross and Joass, 1862. Pair panelled ashlar monolith piers with shaped caps; pair spearhead detailed cast-iron carriage gates. <2>

Visited during the Highland Kirkyards project, run by Highland Buildings Preservation Trust. Parish church in use in well-tended graveyard. 20th century graves surround the church immediately to the east, north and west. Modern extensions to the graveyard to the east. The gravestones face in varying directions. <3><4>
