Bishop's Palace (NR) (Site of) OS 6" map, Caithness, 2nd ed. (1907)

The site of residence of Bishop Adam, one of ancient bishops of Caithness, who was burned in a small house adjacent by a mob who were enraged because of some additional taxes that the bishop was imposing on them. This took place on 13th September 1222.
Name Book 1872.
