Possibly Alexander Ross, later 19th century Gothic, tall rectangular gabled mausoleum orientated east/west; grey
tooled ashlar with contrasting sandstone ashlar dressings. Pointed headed hoodmoulded entrance in centre of east gable with moulded architraves and slender nook shafts with attenuated stiff leaf capitals; decorative cast-iron gate and screen. Large rose window with geometric tracery above. Large rear pointed-headed 3-light window with slender columns as mullions and corresponding slender nookshafts; shaped blind occulus above. Base course; diagonal buttresses; corbelled eaves cornice; flat skews; apex cross at east gable; banded fishscale slate roof.

Stained glass survives in outer lights of west window. 4 tombs with Celtic cross headstones outside door at east of mausoleum.

Burial place of the Camerons of Fassifern and Callert: various members of Cameron and Fairfax-Lucy family buried outside mausoleum. Cameron of Callert's daughter married a Fairfax-Lucy of Charlecote, Warwickshire. <1>

Cameron Mausoleum, later 19th century, possibly by Alexander Ross The slowly disintegrating resting place of Camerons of Fassifern and Callart, and members of the Lucy family, poised high above Loch Leven, with good gothic ornament including an elaborate iron gate. The nook shafts and stiff leaf capitals carved out of sandstone are still crisp, but the stained glass is all but destroyed. <2>

Photographs of the mausoleum, internal and external fixtures and fittings were photographed by Martin Briscoe in October 2010. A number of the grave markers of those members of the Cameron and Fairfax-Lucy families buried outside the mausoleum were also photographed. The two stained glass side panels have now been restored, with perspex behind them and are in good condition; the large, central panel is missing. <3>
