A Viking silver hoard from Skye given to the National Museum of Antiquities, Edinburgh, by Rev. Donald MacQueen in 1781 (Acc.No:IL 123/4).
It comprises a very small, slender piece of silver ring-money or armlet, in two fragments, and another small piece with end portion missing.
S Grieg 1940.

Small hack-silver hoard of two fragments of ring-money dating to the 10th or 11th century. The stamp-decorated terminals on one of the fragments is unusual for ring-money, but is paralleled on a lost ring from the Burray, Orkney hoard. Called Isle of Skye no. 1 in Graham-Campbell's corpus. (Graham-Campbell 1995 p. 98).
Exact findspot on Skye unknown.
