Full Description
A dwelling-house was erected in N part of Stroma by Kennedy of Kermucks, who was granted island in 1659. The Kennedys ceased to be lairds of island in 1721, and Low on 9th May 1774 saw 'the remains of a pretty large house and gardens' (Low 1879). The site is now occupied by a nice two-storey house but about the end of 19th century part of the garden wall was still in existence, and it was said that 'plants that cured every disease' were grown in that garden.

Mr Simpson (J M Simpson, Burnside Gills, Canisbay, John o'Groats), farmer and owner of Stroma, states that the enclosure at ND 3563 7856 is Kennedy's Garden, and that it this was common knowledge amongst the people of Stroma. There is no local info and no trace of an associated house.
