Full Description
NM66SW 9 centred 610 610
(NM60 61) This settlement is largely outside the SSSI. In 1875 it was less developed with only six roofed structures being shown apart from Glenborrodale Castle. More extensive cultivated areas suggest this was more an agricultural community, probably dependent on the 'big house'. This has been a desk assessment area.
J Wordsworth, SSSIs, Scottish Natural Heritage, 1993
One unroofed building, six roofed buildings, one of which has two wings and another is T-shaped, three enclosures, a sheepfold, some field walls and a head-dyke are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire 1875, sheet xxv). Eighteen roofed buildings, including a hotel, several enclosures and some field walls are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).
