Full Description

This name applies to a coal pit shaft which was sunk about the year 1858, there was good coal at the depth of about 130 feet; but the mine was never used owning to the lack of funds for prosecuting the working of it.
Name Book 1880.

Eathie coalpit shaft (disused) is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire, Cromartyshire & Do 1880, sheet lxvii).
