Full Description

On the summit of a moorland rise, is a prominent, turf-covered, ragged mound, some 10.5m diameter by 0.6m high. Occasional small stones protrude and several largish stones lie at random on the surface. At centre is tenuous footing of a structure, possibly a shieling or World War 2 structure associated with the nearby disused airfield. It is probably a cairn mutilated by a later structure, or it could be a shieling mound. The former interpretation is the more likely.
Surveyed at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (J M) 13 July 1982

Cairn, Moss of Killimster. Diameter: 10m. Subcircular grass-covered mound 1m high with a central depression indicating the site of a later construction.
R J Mercer, NMRS MS/828/19, 1995
