Full Description
Two small, curvilinear structures (NMRS MS 738/28, no.4), which are situated on a steep N-facing flank of Carn na Caillich, were recorded during the course of a pre-afforestation survey by AOC (Scotland) Ltd. They are situated in an area where the hillside is corrugated by natural erosion features. The upper structure is defined by broad rounded banks, which measure 3m wide and 0.5m high, enclosing an oval-shaped scooped or scarped interior 4m across. The second structure is similar in form though less well-defined. It opens to NE, or downslope, and is 6m wide internally.
The structures are interpreted as possible shieling-huts or shooting butts.
