Full Description

Centred on 101 427

A township comprising four roofed buildings, three of which are long buildings, two unroofed structures, three enclosures, some field walls and a head-dyke is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1876, sheet xxvii). Two roofed and three unroofed buildings, two enclosures and some field walls are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10560 map (1962).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 18 December 1995

One of the long buildings was visited and photographed by D Glass in April 2013. He described the site as:
"This is the most westerly of the structures in this former settlement. It is a rectangular building 25 metres long and 5 metres wide. The walls stand to a height of up to 1.5 metres. The western part of the building is better preserved than the eastern part, indicating that it might have been occupied to a later date or maintained for holding livestock.
The First Edition OS Six Inch map depicts the structure as a roofed building." <1>
