Full Description

A township comprising two farmsteads, approximately 700m apart, is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxviii). The farmstead to the NW comprises three roofed buildings, two of which are long buildings, and an enclosure, and that to the SE comprises three roofed long buildings and one enclosure. An unroofed building which lies approximately 380m SE of the farmstead to the N and some lengths of head-dyke are also depicted.
On the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1975) the farmstead to the NW comprises one unroofed building and one enclosure. The farmstead to the SE comprises two roofed buildings, one of which has an attached enclosure, and two other enclosures. A sheepfold and some lengths of head-dyke are also shown.
