Summary

An impressive country house which was largely destroyed by fire in 1960. The servants quarters are all that remains of the original building.

Full Description

Surviving section of Dunskeath House. The main section would appear to have been demolished.
The remaining building has had new window frames installed.
At NH 79546 68889 are Cottages Nos. 1 and 2.
At NH 79566 68957 is an unroofed structure with pointed arched windows, possibly a mausoleum or garden house.

There is an interesting discussion about this building to be found on Tain Museum's website Tain Through Time. The caption ascribed to the photograph of the building is incorrect as highlighted by various contributors who give further information about the building. One contributor recalls that the house was destroyed by fire in 1960, with the exception of the servant's quarters which are all that now remains of the original building. Another person mentions the ruins of an "old chapel" in the former gardens of Dunskaith House. <3>
