Wester Ross Project - Cathy Dagg, 03/04
Alternative Gaelic names: Bad an t’Sluig (Dixon) or an t-Eirthire shios (Watson).
Together with Second Coast, a rare example of a township not improved by establishing houses on their crofts but retaining a nucleus of settlement, a cluster of buildings on both sides of the road as recorded on the 1st edition OS map. The only surviving 19th century building is a house standing apart at the west boundary of the township, while a modern bungalow occupies the core settlement area south of the road. Footings of structures on this side are obscured by vegetation but probably survive. North of the road a small group of structures is still standing, although altered to other uses, and other footings can be seen. The arable land associated with the township is a small area extending south and west.
