Grassy footings of two buildings attached to what may be a head dyke running NW-SE south of the Allt a’ Bhaid-rabhain and forming the southern boundary of a broad level area. This is the probable location of the pre-Clearance township of Meikle Gruinard, marked at this location on Thomson’s map of the 1820s, before the construction of Gruinard House, although the tenants may have been removed for sheep farming by Davidson of Tulloch who acquired the estate in 1795. Theprobable area of the township has subsequently been used for buildings associated with shootings and the later sawmill, but east of these, features associated with the original township may survive in the bracken and 19th century tree plantings.

What may be a township comprising two roofed and two unroofed buildings, one of which has an attached length of field wall, is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire and Cromartyshire 1881, sheet xx). Two unroofed buildings are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10560 map (1969).
