Full Description

The core area of the village arounf road is still populated and buildings upgraded to good standard. Outliers in ruins on road to Lochcarron, did not check higher areas away from road - HAW 2/2004

A township comprising 38 roofed buildings, which include Strome Inn and a school, fifteen unroofed buildings, eight enclosures and a head-dyke is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire 1880, sheet cxvii). Whithin this township is a farmstead comprising two roofed buildings and an enclosure. Twenty-two roofed buildings, twenty-three unroofed buildings, eleven enclosures, some sheep pens and a head-dyke are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1972).
