Whetstone found AD 1861 (NAT) OS 1:10,000 map, (1975)

"Mr A Gunn of Whitefield found this stone in 1861 while trenching his garden. It is supposed to have been used as a plummet. He gave it to me the other day and I sent it into the Ordnance Survey Office." (From the excellent line and wash drawing this is a perforated whetstone). Name Book 1871.

No further info was obtained during field investigation.
Visited by OS (W D J) 24 April 1963.
