The steamship ALWAKI sank following an explosion in the engine room.
Surveying Details

19 July 1940. A position for the wreck is given as 58 42 48N, 004 29 24W. Report by HMS TARTAR.
22 November 1966. A sonar contact, good at long range but poor at 1500 feet, was recorded. The site is a wreck approximately 200 feet (61 metres) long, lying with its keel orientated 090/270 degrees.

11 January 1985. The site was examined on 27 July 1984 at 58 43 02N, 004 29 24Q - position fix was obtained using syledis. Or decca (n. scot) red h 14.66, green a 32.83, purple d 54.98. The least echosounder depth was 56 in a general depth of 72 metres. No scouring was observed. The side scan soanr indicated a height of 16 metres, and length of 60 metres (196 feet). The vessel is lying with its keel orientated 020/200 degrees.
