The steam trawler SWORD DANCE sank following a collision in the Moray Firth.

11 September 1984. A wreck at 70 metres was located at 58 28 20.88N, 002 42 50.46W. The vessel is about 50 metres (164 feet) long.

11 January 1985. The site was examined on 21 August 1984 at 58 28 21N, 002 42 50W. The position was obtained by using syledis trisponder. Decca co-ordinates = [n scot] red c 9.5, green b 41.1, purple g 76.3. The least echosounder depth was 70 in a general depth of 77 metres. A scour pit 0.7 metres deep was observed. The side scan sonar indicated a height of 6.6 metres, and length of 55 metres (180 feet). The wreck is lying with its keel on an orientation of 110/290 degrees.
