Full Description

On a gentle N-facing slope about 50m NW of a group of hut circles (ND03NE 6) is an overgrown burnt mound, comprising twin peaks of unequal size with an elongated depression between them. At the NE end of the depression there are three upright slabs, 0.2m above ground level, which form three sides of a rectangule, 0.9m long and of indeterminate width. The structure resembles a cist or, more likely, a trough. Other large stones break the surface of the mound, but these form no identifiable pattern. Some burnt stone is exposed in a hole in the mound, which measures 9m overall diameter and 1m high.
Surveyed at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (N K B) 12 August 1982.
