Full Description

NH88SW 14.06 Centred 8560 8085

Between the crossroads at NH 8364 8086 and Lochslin Farm (NH88SW 21) are two of the accomodation camps for Tain Airfield.
The camp which straddles the crossroads was a communal site and though some of the buildings survive in various stages of decay, only the ration store (NH8360 8090) is fairly complete and roofed, now being used by the farmer.
Further up the hill lies the WAAF and RAF sleeping quarters and station sick quarters of which a few structures survive including some of the accomodation huts, mess halls with the water storage towers still in situ interspersed among some farm buildings.
Visited by RCAHMS (DE) May 1997
