Full Description
A roofless building is situated just above the high-water mark in a sheltered bay at the N end of the peninsula to the E of Achnahaird Bay. It measures 6.4m from ENE to WSW by 3.7m transversely within mortared masonry walls 0.65m in thickness and still standing to wall-head height (1.7m). The entrance, which is on the NNW side, is flanked by windows. There is a fireplace in the WSW end and an outshot extends for 2.2m from the ENE. A slipway has been cleared through the boulder beach to the N, and the relatively flat raised-beach to the E, S and W of the building is covered by lazy-bedding, measuring up to 4m between furrows.
The building is shown as roofed on both the 1st (Cromartyshire 1881, sheet iC) and 2nd (Ross and Cromarty, 1906, sheet iC) editions of the OS 6-inch map.
