Full Description

An enclosure, 78m E-W by 36m, defined by a coursed stone wall, is situated on the E bank of Strontian River adjacent to Drumnatorran house and steading (SMR NM86SW0013 and NM86SW0017). The enclosure is constructed around a grass-covered knoll, which is probably natural though it resembles a prehistoric cairn. Fragments of stone revetment, visible at different heights within the mound, may be associated with early graves inserted into it. The graves mostly date from the mid-19th century onwards but some recumbent slabs date to the 18th or early 19th centuries. These are becoming obscured by moss and lichen.
