Full Description

Huna Cairn
ND37SE 36 36 73

A O Curle's field notes for 1936 include a rough sketch and notes describing a cairn at Huna. The stones are said to have been 'laid flat one above the other'. Those at the northern end were said to be 'merely lying on the sand'.
(MS/28/461 (1), p.22)

Curle gives no precise location for this site which may be identical with one of two mounds in the vicinity of Huna House. (See ND37SE 18 and 19)

An entry in a second notebook may refer to the same cairn. This is said to lie about 200 yards west of Huna Hotel, about 100 feet back from the high water mark, on an area of blown sand.
(MS/28/461 (2), p.1)
