Full Description

A shepherd's dwelling (shown roofed on OS 6" map, Caithness, 1st ed. (1877), sheet xxviii). Name Book 1877.

This enclosed farmhouse is presumed to be of similar date to the 5 hectare enclosure just N of Munsary, and possibly one of the Munsary structures. It is not as simple in plan as suggested by the OS 1:10,000 map, but was not recorded in detail due to lack of time. Essentially it is an L-shaped building with a high enclosure wall running from its N wall, around the W and S, providing garden ground, and returning N to abut the SE corner of the house. There were no associated or earlier features nearby.
NMRS MS/645, p. 6.
