Full Description

NC01SW 14 0252 1010

On the NE side of an unnamed burn flowing to the SE corner of Loch Vatachan, and about 500m SE of the loch, there are three shieling-huts and the remains of two conjoined enclosures, one of which contains lazy-beds.
The shieling-huts are located in grass- and heather-covered ground around the N edge of one of the enclosures, and two of them are built onto the enclosing bank. They range in length from 3.1m to 6.1m and in breadth from 1.4m to 2.6m within rubble walls 0.5m to 0.6m thick and up to 0.5m high.
The two enclosures are to the S and SW of the huts, and are defined by discontinuous stretches of bank. That onto which two of the huts has been built measures about 110m N-S by 60m transversely, while the other, to the SW, appears to have measured about 110m E-W by 80m N-S. The latter enclosure contains lazy-bed cultivation.
