Full Description
Centred on 0388 0857
The SE march of the Achiltibiue township is marked by two phases of boundary; an earlier earth-and-stone bank runs up on to the leading edge of the second terrace above the township. A stone-faced bank overlies much of the earlier boundary and continues to the NE, across Cnoc Mor, terminating on the N bank of the Allt Bad a' Chotair. Two huts and a building have been built against the later boundary.
The building (ACHIL94 100, NC 0388 0857), which is situated at the NE end of the bank, measures 6.1m by 2.7m within faced-rubble footings 0.7m in thickness and 0.5m in height. The entrance is in the NE end and a small pen has been built in the interior.
The huts measure 2.5m by 1.3m (ACHIL94 121, NC 0346 0821) and 1.9m by 1.4m (ACHIL94 122, NC 0379 0848) within faced-rubble footings up to 0.6m in thickness and 0.3m in height. Lower down the slope, a further hut (ACHIL94 386, NC 0326 0807), 1.7m by 1.5m within rubble walls 0.65m thick and 0.7m high, lies between the the bank and wall.
