Full Description
NH09SE 9 0790 9165
Six buildings, lying on either side of the Allt a'Phuind, were recorded during the course of a pre-afforestation survey undertaken by J Wordsworth. The larger of the two buildings on the E side of the burn measures 8m in length by 4m transversely, the other lies to the W measures 4m by 3m. On the opposite side of the burn there are two more structures of a similar size. This settlement is bounded by a badly eroded earth and stone dyke the N end of which is quite well preserved being constructed mostly of drystone walling. This dyke runs along the W side of the burn from NH 0785 9168 to NH 0770 9160. After descending a small cliff down to the road two more buildings are built into the wall. Due to the fact that the buildings of this settlement are built within the enclosure it is likely it may have been an animal fold.
