NH71NW 1 centred on 716 180
A township comprising one unroofed building and six roofed buildings, one of which is arranged around three sides of a courtyard, is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet lvi). One partially roofed and two unroofed buildings are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1974).

One of the 5 'Coigs' . This area was known as Schephin until at least the 17th century, but later was referred to as the 5 Coigs (Fifths): Coignascalen, Coignafeuinternich, Coignavullin, Coignashie, Coignafearn (spellings vary). (I.F. Grant 1980, Along a Highland Road, p. 21). <1>
