Full Description

Montrose is said to have encamped for three days in the wood of Fairly (?Farley) during his retreat, after a skirmish with Middleton at Inverness ( c. 1645) His camp was within sight of Middleton's on the other side of the river (NH 54 SW 2). On the fourth day he is said to have broken camp and set it on fire.
