The SUNTON, Burton, of Whitehaven, which sailed from St Andrews, in America the 18th October (laden with timber for Sligo) after a severe passage, was put on shore in the Isle of Skye, on the 30th ult.. The people, for preservation of their lives, were under the necessity of aboandoning the vessel, and with much difficulty reached the land in the long-boat, which they had scarcely quitted before she was struck by a tremendous sea, and dashed to pieces. Soon after escaping the danger, they perceived that the vessel had drifted from her anchors; and in a short time, discovered she was on fire. It was impossible to render any assistance, and she was burnt to the water edge.
