Type VIIC Atlantic U-boat, 796 displacment surfaced, 871 tons submerged, maximum diving range 309ft.
Comanded by KL Reimers, U722 was depth charged by RN frigates BYRON, FITZROY and REDMILL on 27 March 1945. The position given is 6 miles NW of Canna in 120 metres. All 44 members of the crew were lost. Five bodies floated to the surface (4 identified, 1 not) and, according to Skye and Lochalsh District Council, were buried at Portree on 11 April 1945.
