A crofting township and a township are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, Isle of Skye 1882, sheet xxxv). The crofting township comprises twenty-four roofed buildings, two of which are long buildings, two partially roofed buildings and six unroofed buildings. The township comprises seven unroofed buildings and two lengths of head-dyke. To the N the head-dyke separates Balmeanach from the township of Gedintailor and to the S the head-dyke separates Balmeanach from the crofting township of Peinchorran.
Eighteen roofed, three partially roofed and ten unroofed buildings and two lengths of head-dyke are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10560 map (1968).
