NN61SE 41 1652 6167 and 1643 6161

Two possible charcoal burning platforms (NMRS MS 738/31, nos.18 and 23) were located during a pre-afforestation survey by AOC (Scotland Ltd). That to the NE ((NMRS MS 738/31, no.18) is situated on a N-facing slope and measures 11.5m from E to W by 9m. The N, or downslope, edge is built up to 0.5m in height and levelled into the hillside to a depth of 0.5m on the upslope, or S, side. Traces of an open-ended enclosure abut the N side of the platform.
The second platform (NMRS MS 738/31, no.23) lies about 100m to the SW at NN 1643 6161. It is situated on a steep N-facing slope and measures 7m by 5m in diameter. It is levelled into the hillside to up to 1m in depth and on the downslope side. There is a slight lip along the leading edge of the platform which is revetted and terraced out to 0.9m in height on the N side.
