Full Description

NC70NW 146 7381 0635

The roofless shell of a building (ROG95 288, NC 7381 0635), with opposed entrances and a drain set into a concrete floor, lies to the W of the croft house at Dremergid. It is shown as roofed on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1879, 1907, sheet xcvi) and may have functioned as both a byre and a barn. There are stone stack stands in the enclosure to the W.
Along a trackway to the W of the building there are thirteen oval hollows excavated into a well-drained ridge (ROG95 356, NC 7371 0633). They measure up to 2.5m by 1.5m across and 0.4m in depth, with little upcast. Their function is not clear but they may have been clamps.
