Full Description

Centred at NH 818 269 on a SW-facing hillside is a settlement of six circular stone-walled huts (A - F), each built up on the slope, and an associated field system. With the exception of 'C', each hut has an entrance in the SE arc.
Hut 'A' measures 11.5m overall diameter with a wall spread to c. 2.0m all round. Several upright outer facing stones, and the rubble core, are visible. The entrance is obscured by a fallen block, but the S side appears to be splayed.
'B' is 15.0m overall diameter with a wall spread to c 2.5m all round. The outer face of upright blocks is traceable for most of the periphery and the rubble wall core is exposed. The entrance is splayed from c. 1.0m internally to c.2.5m.
'C' is c. 13.0m in diameter between the centres of a wall spread to c. 3.0m on all sides except the SE and S where it is destroyed. No facing stones are evident. Immediately outside the estimated course of the hut wall in the SE arc is a linear clearance heap. The entrance is not evident.
'D' measures c. 11.0m in diameter between the centres of a rubble wall spread to c. 3.5m in the SW where there is a considerable build up incorporating traces of a probable retaining wall, and c. 2.5m elsewhere. No facing stones can be seen. The simple entrance is c. 1.0m wide.
'E' is 14.5m overall diameter with a wall spread to c.2.5m, widening to c. 3.5m on the lower SW side. A number of upright outer facing stones are exposed. The simple entrance is c. 0.8m wide.
'F' measures c. 12.5m in diameter between the centres of a wall spread to c. 2.5m with occasional outer facing stones visible. To the S of the simple entrance, 1.0m wide, the hut wall is overlaid by a stone clearance heap, measuring about 7.0m NE-SW by about 5.0m.
The field system comprises stone clearance heaps, lynchets and ruined field walls defining cultivation plots varying from 60.0m x 30.0m to 15.0m square.
