Balrishallich, grain-drying frame

This grain-drying frame is between 2.70m and 2.80m in height, 2.5m in breadth and is 32.70m in length. It is constructed from eight timber frames consisting of two uprights resting on flat stones braced by two pieces of timber and five longitudinal lengths of 0.05cm galvanised fencing wire on each elevation.The frame has five cross members on W end, S elevation, each 2.5m in length, 0.13m in depth and 0.08m in thickness. The N end is covered with battens measuring 2.5m in length, 0.09m in depth and 0.03m in thickness. The uprights are of larch and the sawn timbers are of larch or Scots Fir. The wire tentioners are all of cast-iron. The frame was roofed with corrugated, galvanised sheet metal, 0.66m (26 inches) in width.
The frame was damaged by storms in 1994.
