Full Description

On the edge of a terrace, in generally boggy ground, at the W edge of the modern crofting township of West Langwell, there are the disturbed remains of what may be a hut-circle over which there has been constructed a subrectangular building. The possible hut-circle appears to have measured 5.9m in diameter within a bank 1.1m thick, faced with edge-set stones. The SSE side of the hut has been removed and the remaining arc of wall incorporated into a larger building or enclosure, measuring 12.3m in internal length and 5.9m in breadth at the NNW end, narrowing towards the SSE. The visible remains, which stand no more than 0.3m high, are too disturbed for complete confidence in this interpretation, however, and it may be that this is a single-period building with a rounded NNW end.
