Four large clearance cairns, up to 4m across and 0.8m high, lying within old areas of pasture to the N of Cona Chreag, were noted by Headland Archaeology during a pre-afforestation survey (NMRS MS 899/63, no.2). The areas of old pasture are represented by roughly subrectangular areas of bracken-infested grassland, some 30m to 40m across, delineated in places by bedrock outcrops.
The cairns are formed by medium to large sub-angular stones at the base with smaller stones above. Two short lengths of coursed drystone walling were noted between a series of rock outcrops immediately SE of the south-easternmost cairn.
C Lowe and M Dalland (Headland Archaeology) 18 December 1997; NMRS MS 899/63, no.2
