Full Description

Boatyard/Slipway, Kyle of Lochalsh

NMRS Manuscript contains information on this site which was operated by BUTEC (British Underwater Testing and Evaluation Centre) on the date of visit. The slipway with its carriage is used to move equipment which can then be side slipped into the large steel portal framed shed situated on the SW side of the site. The shed is shown on the OS 1:2500 map (1973), but the existing shed may post-date this. The site has also been enlarged and developed in recent years.
See NMRS MS/744/210/24 for detailed information.

A photographic survey was carried out in 2008 as a condition on a planning application for the closure of the northeast gable of the boat house. <1>

A photograph of the boatyard was contributed by Andrew Taylor in 2009. <2>
