At least two turf- and stone-built shieling-huts, situated on low knolls on opposite sides of a small stream gully, were recorded during a pre-afforestation survey by Headland Archaeology (NMRS MS 899/76, no.3). The larger structure survives as an incomplete wall-line of a 6m by 3m rectangular building partly overlying a 4m by 2.5m subrectangular foundation. The smaller structure survives as a 3m by 2m low subrectangular mound with a slight central hollow.
S Carter and M Dalland (Headland Archaeology) 12 March 1998; NMRS MS 899/76 no.3
