Full Description

Only one searchlight emplacement could be found. Two 6 inch Mk.XI guns installed June 1940. Put into care and maintenance November 1944. J A Guy, 20th Century Defences, (report nos. 1, 8 & 11).

A coast battery has been identified from oblique aerial photography (RAF oblique APs CPE/Scot/UK 293, [FFO], flown 1947, 69-70). Visible on photographs are two gun emplacements with battery observation post, and at least one roofless Nissen hut immediately to N of western emplacement. The Nissen hut to N of the eastern emplacement appears intact. Three other buildings, possibly magazines or engine houses are visible on the photographs. No searchlight platforms are visible.
