Full Description
NG20SE 62 2689 0455 and 2692 0450
A roofed single-storey cottage (NG 2692 0453) and two ruinous rectangular buildings, one of which may also have been a cottage, lie above the shoreline overlooking a tidal bay 130m to the SSE of the schoolhouse; the cottage, although derelict, is still used as a store. Only the rear wall and Nend of the other possible cottage survive, together with traces of an outshot extending its axis to the N. The cottage measures at least 13m from NNW to SSE by 5.5m transversely within rubble walls 0.9m in thickness and 0.3m in height, and is probably all that survives of a building shown roofed at this location on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire, 1881, sheet lix).
The footings of the second ruinous building (NG 2692 0450) are set at the foot of a crag 28m to the S and measure 9.1m from NW to SE by 5m transversely overall.
(Canna 67-9).
Visited by RCAHMS (ARG, IMS), 30 April 1994.
