Full Description
A report and photos sent in by Mr N H Harbord, Cleveland - " Much work has been done on this single track road recently and, at the point given, the road has cut through a small platform with a low cairn lying about 6m (estimated) off the roadside. The edge of the platform, where cut by the road working, reveals a large number of small hemispherical iron-rich slag pieces (many broken) with a large quantity washed into the roadside ditch. Accompanying the slag pieces was one piece of pale grey mottled flint, angular and probably debitage. Whatever the previous use of this site, the slag pieces would suggest it was used during the Iron Age."
